Mikey putting on pants so that the person he switched places with wouldn’t be naked is very sweet and thoughtful. Mikey is the best.

So y’all just made me buy that book for my 2 year old daughter. Thank you. She will now know the magic of helping pigs look up to the stars.

Tyler Duggan

Griffin definitely thought it takes a year to grow a beard for a second…

One thing I always found baffling about Turtles in Time (I'm keeping it to one for brevity's sake): Shredder's armor is clearly designed based on samurai armor, and Oroku Saki was from Japan. Seems like the filmmakers missed an easy opportunity to make the antagonist an ancestor of Shredder's who wears similar armor (or even an entire Saki Clan that are all dressed like Feudal Japan Shredders)--if nothing else, it'd make for a cooler-looking action figure than any of the bad guys in this film.

Douglas Wykstra

You should do puss in boots and the two zoroz.

Alex Solliday

I’m listening to this podcast while walking through a forest in Japan. Does that retroactively add legitimacy to the TMNTIII experience?

Matthew Comegys

Is Carl Franklin the best young TV actor turned steady-hand director? He's so great.

Mike Ostrov

Also, an important reason Samurai armour looks so cool is that most surviving examples are display pieces commissioned as status symbols during the Edo Period long after they had become obsolete and so are very deliberately art. The actual mass produced armour used as practical protection would probably be much less impressive visually outside of those of the biggest aristocrats. The same is true of a lot of European plate armour as virtually nothing medieval actually survives and examples are often ceremonial and for display long after they had been abandoned on the battlefield. You see European generals being painted in plate armour long after that would have been a total anachronism in actual combat

The needle…

‘I don’t know I’m not in charge of this’ - felt that deep in my soul.

Matt

Doesnt Donatello pull his head into his shell in the first movie? In April's shop?

John Blood

I, too, had more fun with this than Secret of the Ooze.

Brandon Skidmore

Dwane the Jock Ronson you say…

Bee

Not the point and not important but Fire in the Sky fucked me up when I was younger, that abduction scene is NO JOKE

Spencer Asmann

I keep being recommended an Instagram movie meme page that’s like “virgin sepia filter vs chad vibrant antiquity” so this phenomenon as pertains to ancient stuff, too, has been on my mind this very week haha

Rad Rodge

I’m a younger TMNT fan and so only watched this movie for the first time a year ago in prep for Mutant Mayhem. It really is just a bad 90’s kid’s movie with a Ninja Turtles coat of paint. You guys are right to tangent it up over this lol

Tashmon Dimps

Is the TMNT poster drawn by AC Farley? I grew up with his kids

Matthew O'Reilly

Let's go, Expos, let's go! *clapclapclap*

Marty TC (child-sized Cardassian)

Fun fact! Alot of medieval european armor was actually painted but alot of the paint either naturally deteriorated or was cleaned off by early collectors in the name of “restoration” incorrectly assuming that armor was meant to be shiny or undecorated.

Francisco Hernandez

The unavoidable curse of some franchises where the first movie is underrated good and then the next few movies get worse is that the two friends can’t help but provide context during the first movie, when there is actual onscreen stuff to discuss, so by the time the true slop is being played they are scraping for what to talk about. To be clear - this is a feature not a bug.

JB

“You’re not a good actor but you seem like a dumb *sshole” just moved in and will be living in my brain for the indefinite future.

John Halski

Well I for one appreciate all the Web analysis I can get. Seriously though the tangents are why I like these guys the most

Devon Wenger

They will one day cover these Sony Spider-Man spinoffs. They could be smart to save these conversations for that time when it inevitably comes instead of talking about the movie they are covering! They could’ve discussed the similarities between this film, and GI Samurai, or the class separation between Samurai class, and worker class. Instead the discussion is about Madame Web skillfully selling us the importance of non-blood related families, and Pepsi.

I told Doctor Hall My Butt Hurt. He Told Me To Bend Down, Stuck His Finger In My Asscunt, and said “You Got A Wart”.

So sad you're being forced to pay to listen to this... oh wait.

Cory McCasland

Thanks for turning this into a Madame Web commentary during TMNT period. What has happened to this once great pod?

I told Doctor Hall My Butt Hurt. He Told Me To Bend Down, Stuck His Finger In My Asscunt, and said “You Got A Wart”.

My favorite title scansion match remains "multi-system organ failure"

Drew!

Just throwing this out there: both Banderas Zorros and both Pussy In Boots movies??

“chris”

Its kind ok?

John Blood

Youppi got given to the Habs after the Expos left and he was between franchises. He was previously unaffiliated with the NHL. The Phillie Phanatic is the clear forerunner to Gritty, and has since been surpassed by him.

Matt Skoufalos

I would love to take a class with David. He seems like he would pull his weight in a group project.

Seth B

This is rough but fun.

Tom

Such a fun series the commentaries are always my favorite

Dalton Johnson

First TMNT was my first movie in theaters. TMNT II was the VHS I watched the most after Superman and Home Alone—a pure obsession. I think I saw this one once at a friend’s house, never had it at home, never cared to ask for it. It is weird that I could build a whole personality around the first two movies and I just acted like this didn’t exist. Probably had more to do with the brain of a child than it does the quality of the movie, but they also could have maintained their momentum if they tried a little harder.

Brett Schwartz

I love this movie and concept. It was so refreshing not dealing with the shredder anymore. The opening scene alone is a 10/10 but overall before l watch I’ll give this movie a gentleman 5. I just wished the suits looked better. This movie would be so much better.

Ancient alien

Saw this movie in theaters as a kid for another kid's birthday... Never spoke to him ever again after that.
