Don't Get Knocked Out - Rules for the Mid Range

In this video, we will look at the most dangerous range for striking and how to operate safely there. This is taken from the syllabus we've been working on at the UFC PI Shanghai led by head striking coach Mark Timms.

Hi Ramen, that's a great question! I think that's worth a video within itself as there are so many points to address and you almost answered your own question by the end of the comment haha. I'll have a think and get something up for you by the weekend!

What would you recommend for a shorter fighter in MMA or Muay thai? Exiting may lead to alleviating pressure on the opponent and it’d be a lot of hard work to enter back in. You could smother but then you’d end up in grappling exchanges or clinch which you may not want necessarily. Angling off or taking the side door could give your opponent options to exit when you have them on the cage. In scenarios like this, do you just stay in front of your opponent and fight in the mid range? Or are these just things that you have to accept for the sake of staying safe?

Thanks, nathan just one question. I like to fight upclose even though I am taller then my opponents generally. I see so many pocket punchers any tips on kicking out my opponents base under them to set up punches ?
