Ocean’s Thirteen

BC:SF has reached the final film in the Soderbergh directed trilogy, Ocean’s Thirteen (2007). This time it’s back to basics for ol’ Sodie and the gang after the loathed previous release. Topics include: the addition of Al Pacino to the cast, reasons why the nose plays, discovering Dave & Buster’s, the lost Hans and Franz movie, and more.

Movie starts at…1:11

Re-listening to this right now, and today's boxofficega.me is the opening weekend of Ocean's Thirteen. It's funny how those little things line up sometimes.

It is only “an historical” if your accent drops the h. Otherwise it is “a historical”.

The way Ben talks about a medieval heist, really hope he enjoyed D&D Honor Among Thieves

They’re talking about the guy who raced Seinfeld 😂😂😂😂 l bet you that’s where they remember him from

Dude from earth

Thankfully the 4K's were new transfers overseen by Soderbergh himself.

Ocean’s movies are weird. It’s like, whatever scene is on is perfect. But then the next scene comes along and you completely forget about the last scene. Maybe they’re the perfect movies for background viewing. I’m typing this while Twelve is on.

Update for future episodes: Ocean’s 8, and something else.

The fellas certainly did put this in one of the fanfare eps and man did it deserve it. MAGNIFICENT opening logos. This is a pretty good movie, but the first 20 seconds of Ocean’s 13 are better than Vertigo

Rad Rodge

Guys, guys, guys! The prequel is titled: ocean’s Be14.

Huh, I've seen Ben speak Spanish in interviews but I didn't know that they'd lived in Mexico.

Michael Hashizume

Worth mentioning that the Afflecks both lived in Mexico for 3 years of their childhood (Ben is still fluent)… maybe Casey was like “hey Sodie I speak really good Spanish”

fartinscorcese

This series has been great, and I understand the practical need to bank episodes early, but I can't help but be a little sad we didn't get any of the prime "Griffin recaps Podcast: The Ride" content we might've had if he was able to talk about their Sin City Nights series that just wrapped up. During the craps talk, I half-expected Griff to reference the exhaustive gameplay explanation Gabrus recently gave the good boys.

Aaron Abolt

The Bourne Ultimatum was the other 3 of that summer. Thought for sure you’d guys remember it especially after the shaky cam bit. But yeah, Max finally did something right with having good video quality of this movie.

I do this allll the time. When David wants to buy the theater in Maine i am telling him “no! Just make up a new version of Alamo Drafthouse down here in this area! Blankie Moviehouse or something

Purplejilly

Man we need a Logan Lucky commentary

Chris

Both in this episode and the Ocean’s Twelve commentary every time they keep going on about “The Belgian” I am shouting into the air “The Brothers Bloom! You’re thinking of Robbie Coltrane’s character in The Brothers Bloom!” but alas my words cannot travel back in time.

Kevin Fry

Big Mr. Brooks fan at the time. Dane Cook plays a tagalong guy who wants to apprentice-murder with The Cos.

Mike Ostrov

I’m glad it’s not only iTunes that looks like shit. I switched to Max and it actually looks like it’s in HD!

Joe Martin

I'm midway, but the Madtv joke!

I love that Pacino lets him, too, like I’m sure that the way Pacino expresses vanity is complex and hard to directly compare to other people but this movie makes him look frickin orange

Rad Rodge

Ring 👏 a 👏 ding 👏 ding 👏

Michael Hashizume

i love how orange sodie makes pacino look
