MARCH MADNESS 2023 - Day 10
Added 2023-03-10 17:00:06 +0000 UTCIn an encouragingly close race, the most excellent dudes Bill & Ted beat out Bogey & Bacall for a spot in the next round.
Up today - a battle of our favorite 90’s adaptations.
It’s JOHN GRISHAM vs. ELMORE LEONARD.

For GRISHAM, we’d cover 8 legal thrillers:
- The Pelican Brief (1993)
- The Firm (1993)
- The Client (1994)
- The Chamber (1996)
- A Time to Kill (1996)
- The Rainmaker (1997)
- The Gingerbread Man (1998)
- Runaway Jury (2003)
We would not cover the Harry Connick Jr family-oriented baseball movie “Mickey” nor “Christmas With The Kranks,” a story we cannot believe he wrote in the first place.
For LEONARD, we’d cover his 4 famous 90s crime movies (yeah, we know “Be Cool” is from the 2000s, but it’s a direct sequel):
- Get Shorty (1995)
- Jackie Brown (1997)
- Out of Sight (1998)
- Be Cool (2005)
We will not be covering any of his myriad other adaptations…Leonard Westerns could be their own genre.
Both series would feature A-list Hollywood actors and important filmmakers we’ve yet to cover on the main feed - Pakula, Pollack, Schumacher, Altman, and Coppola for Grisham, Sonnenfeld, Tarantino, and Soderbergh for Leonard.
Who gets your vote?
