Hear me out, hear me out; those early movies are genuinely dark and unusually intense and real-talk for kids animated shit, especially for the time. It's the images burned in your brain factor that Disney wasn't capable of. I get that the later films are weak, but seeing as our film culture still can't seem to grasp the idea of animation as anything other than down the middle family fare I think proves how radical those were in the 80s. Also NIMH fuuuuuuuuucks
