Nice bit of foreshadowing for this miniseries when Ben says he’s “not that into spelling”

Kyle Lark

From afar (Britain)I think the early 90s was a bit of a dark age of mainstream US sitcoms. Simpsons and Seinfeld exist in reaction to and subverting the clapped out family sitcom. Home Improvements popularity is probably down to the paucity of good alternatives.

David Kirk

That was truly undercelebrated

Rad Rodge

Ben needs comedy points for saying one of the reindeer is named Plisken

I got home around halfway through the commentary and jumped on Disney+ to watch along. Definitely I find myself on the Griffin/Benducer side of this debate. David is my Blank Check Spirit Animal, but he's just wrong here. This movie is terrific by dopey holiday movie standards. And much to my chagrin, I have to give a lot of credit to Snitch Allen's performance. he may not be a good actor, but sometimes he sure seems like one. Now I count the days until we can watch my beloved Elizabeth Mitchell together.

1:42:48 —-1000 comedy points to David

Since Sims is doing this for Griffin they should do The Kissing Booth trilogy for Sims😏

I also want to say, while Scott isn't particularly a great father, he doesn't seem like the worst. Maybe up there for dads in the 90s. And while there's friction early with Judge Reinhold early, he doesn't despise Neil and isn't trying to win back his wife or screw her over. It's a pretty evolved "co-parenting, divorce" movie, I think.

I like to think that when Tim Allen grunts his ho ho ho and later tried to put on the toy toolbelt is because he and the director told Disney - “the people will riot if we don’t sneak some Toolman into this!”

Hayley

Not enough kissing?

sjwerewolf

Has Griffin seen Christmas Chronicles? That has an unhinged Santa I feel like he’d be into

Domenic Mezzanotte

I hate to say it, but David was being a bit of a Scrooge in this.

Alan

Speaking of Santa 2, Art LaFleur died today. I know you've already recorded and so you cannot say anything, but I hope you dug into him a little bit when he popped up as Tooth Fairy. He certainly had a long and varied career.

OG McDuck

This is great, and I love that this is the next series, but when they first teased a Christmas series I kind of hoped it would be the two Columbus Home Alones and maybe the new one to cap off the trilogy. Maybe one day?!

ElectricGayhem

I'll be interested in hearing the Santa 2 commentary. I don't remember anything about the first movie, but years ago I caught the second one on cable and was so beguiled by Elizabeth Mitchell that I still remember it as the Vertigo of shitty Christmas movies.

OG McDuck

The “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” version from this one is iconic for me. Lots of this movie fills me with disgust but at an older age but that swingy multipart harmony gets me every time

Roy Martini

i have been informed it is 'Kris Kringle'. i have been sacked.

Jordan B. Anderson

Heck yeah. The Toolman murders Chris Cringle.

Jordan B. Anderson

Yes, thank you Joey Sims. For little me, this movie was straight up Cronenbergian.

Kenny Madison

Looking forward to hear you guys talking North Pole aesthetics. That’s a sweet spot. Polar Express Nuremberg brutalism gets my vote.

Josh Rioux

Have I been a good boy this year? I don't really know, but having this present is the opposite of coal!
