They changed so much from the novel... in the novel Ongsa's mom is really homophobic, which is why Ongsa breaks up with Sun, so that this situation doesn't hurt Sun and also she loves her family... The mom was like the final boss to battle against to have their happy ever after lol Also the writing of Sun's character is a bit off, we don't enough about her, they didn't bother letting us know more about her. Instead we get all those stories about Mawin/Tinh/Ton.... It wasn't in the book either, it's taking some screen time away from the main story and the main couples that feel a bit rushed now...

2024-05-19 21:17:12 +0000 UTCI'm Team Ongsa. After this episode, I'm still Team Ongsa. I didn't like the way this episode went and how they resolved the issue because it really was Ongsa taking all the blame and Sun taking none of it, when in my opinion as well, what Sun did was far worse. But I still love Sun and I still love the show but all the things that I hate about this show, and there are a lot, it all comes back to the writing. The writing has really been what has sabotaged this show from being really great. So many of the things that worked well in the novel they took out. They changed characters' motivations. They took valid plot points and replaced them with nonsense. They added too many extra characters and too many filler stories. Now don't get me wrong, the novel isn't a Pulitzer work of fiction, but it took the story that it had and it made it make sense. It made the characters believable and their choices and reasonings believable and you understood where each was coming from so you were able to have empathy for both of them. I just think the writing on this show has almost gone out its way to make its main characters unlikable at points and that is so strange to me.

All the problems that have come up in Ongsa's life since she started to love Sun have been caused by her own mind and inner fears, because everyone around her seems to love and support her, but she can't see it, and that's okay, it's more common in people than it seems. Sometimes we don't understand how much we can hurt the people who love us with these self-sabotaging thoughts. I loved this chapter and understood the feelings of the two girls and I'm really glad that Ongsa recognized her problem and is willing to work on it. This chapter left a nice thought 🤍

2024-05-17 19:20:21 +0000 UTCSun made some valid points. They’ve already been dating for a few months and all this time Ongsa made decisions FOR sun instead of considering what sun really wants. She hid her relationship from people bc she was scared for sun and her reputation even though sun already told her that she wanted to tell people. And now she even denied their relationship in front of her parents despite them reacting positively to aylin and luna so I definitely understand why sun was hurt and thought that ongsa was embarrassed by their relationship. Sun has been so understanding until now but even if someone is as understanding and communicative as sun, a relationship can’t work if one person in the relationship keeps on making decisions for the both of them without asking the other. So I'm actually on Sun's side this time
