The 904 was a game changing sportscar for Porsche, instantly becoming a champion in the 2L WSC class and winning many, many races either outright or in their class.
As a result, the 904 often kept racing long past its originally intended expiry date, such as at the 1967 Monza 1000km. While the 906 was already succeeded by the 910, Turillo Barbuscia ran his 904 in the race without a care in the world. Turns out this was literally without a care, as he crashed the car in practice.
