Makes perfect sense to me. Replace the swords handle and guard with a metal crossbow, The bow arches act as the new guard. And the crossbow body doubles as the handle. Its a great way to attack someone who somehow managed to get out of your reach, or to attach a lines so you can climb somewhere. Though lets be honest Typhan-knee could probably throw the sword harder than the crossbow could launch a bolt, and with more accuracy. So from Typh's POV its a joke.
