Yeah, this episode goes some daaaaaark places. In the manga, whenever a character died the mangaka would include a quick doodle in the end of the volume of them ascending into heaven. She did this for all characters... except Tucker. He's the only one who went straight to hell instead :P About Mustang's comment, I think you took it the wrong way. He was NOT justifying Tucker in any way. At least the way I interpreted it, he was simply bringing up that while Tucker's actions were absolutely despicable, as part of the military you will encounter (and in the worst case even cause) similarly despicable events in the future, and that Ed and Al would need to brace themselves for that if they want to keep going down that path.
