There were some assumptions that someone is sick and resulting shide to having some financial problems in America seeing that there are hospital bills in the special episode. And the woman he was having picnic with was probably his stepsister with her daughter so they’re apparently just siblings but shuyi misunderstood it. We know that shide promised shuyi to be back to taiwan in few months but even after 2 years he still hasn’t come back home (was probably bcuz of the financial problem he facing with ig) and then shide decided to go back to taiwan to meet shuyi to explain but he probably didn’t hv the chance to do so cuz he made some promises to shuyi’s dad (u can watch the preview of shide having a conversation with shuyi’s dad in one of the ost’s mv, sorry i couldnt remember it’s name 😅) . So yeah, that’s what prevented shide from seeing shuyi for 3 years. In total, they’ve been separated and not seeing each other for 5 years. It’s not that shide didn’t want to but he just couldn’t 😢😢

I could say "why don't you just communicate, dummies", but I know it's much easier said than done. Now I'm dying to know how they will sort it out.
