Little lore about the month of October: In shadowshifter culture All Souls is a special period celebrating their connection with Death and the afterlife. There are celebrations involving honoring the dead as well as special gifts left on the alter for Death, often delicate sweets and beautiful trinkets. Moths, ravens/crows and Calla lily are often motifs used as they are all associated with Death.
