The tournament structure is something like: 1. X teams from the SAME REGION go to PRELIMINARIES (going on right now) --> 8 teams left 2. Those 8 teams from preliminaries + 8 teams that finished top 8 from season 1's tournament (Inter-High) go to QUALIFIERS 2 months later --> 16 teams 3. 16 teams that enter qualifiers play each other for ONE spot to enter the SPRING TOURNAMENT (Nationals) --> 1 team from each region 4. There are usually around 56 teams that will play at nationals. The larger regions (Hokkaido, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Osaka) get to send 2 teams instead of the regular 1 spot. The host region (usually Tokyo) gets an additional spot as well.

2018-06-20 00:05:27 +0000 UTCThe 3 aces are the top 3 nationwide. The other 2 are from different regions and arent in the same tournament as karasuno, shiratorizawa and sejoh. Same goes for nekoma and fukorodani, karasuno can only face them if they go to nationals
