[NOVEL] Gundam Wing Vol.01 (Complete)

First, Merry Early Xmas, everyone! I know I said that I was only going to be posting half volumes every month, but it's that time of year, and y'all are amazing for supporting me and my crazy adventures! So, here's the entire first volume of the Wing novelization! January will see half because these are oddly wordier than Frozen Teardrop was. Not that I'm complaining.

Anyway, yes, as you can see, I'm taking this project far too seriously. Book covers? Who does that? Yes, go ahead and groan at my attempt at channeling Tokyopop with a book summary on the back. I know the original Japanese release has "Departure" as the title, but that doesn't make much sense for a title given what happens in the book (not to mention I can't see how they arrived at that translation for 始動).

Second, welcome to a different version of Wing! As Kamishiro notes in the afterword, he has plans in store for this version! While things don't quite start deviating until the second half, it's not until volume five of the afterword that we learn that a lot of what he changed/slipped it was material that got left on the production room floor for the television series. Either way, we've got a lot of nerdnick lore in this to keep your eye out for. Trowa's traveling circus gang has been around FOREVER.

I don't have too many notes on this first volume. I did work in some of the iconic lines from the dub where I could, just for that nostalgia factor (don't worry, the meaning wasn't lost). No, I didn't use the "No machine gun for him." line, despite desperately wanting to sneak that in. Just picture Campbell Lane's narrator voice at various points throughout if you grew up with the dub. The man will be missed.
