I feel like this is his ego getting in the way. He clearly seems disillusioned by the fact that you get and younger kids are more Newtype-prone, unlike how he sorta was a late bloomer. Kamille, I guess, had to be coaxed into showing his power but Jutta is all bam in your face. I'll recheck Fukui's last interview to see if he mentions characterization

2025-08-26 02:36:11 +0000 UTCits almost uncharacteristic of Char, and I feel like this is the gundams version of the frieza fight, but im excited to see how they catapult this into story relevance. A defining feature of Char is that he secretive, extraverted, and a B-Type leader. Char's bravado, and misplaced personal attachment to this newtype phenomena is strange. For my money Char played his hand back in zeta when he wonders in front of dr. Hassan if Cyberization could beneficially speed up the evolution of mankind. Hence why he gets into it with Nanai. He has no reason to hate, or be threatened by newtype phenomena like psychic resonance. The mangaka is saying Char is broken, but it'd be so much more the style of the author to shed light on things like when Lalah tells Amuro "Char is pure" in CCA.
