EmuDeck Windows - Boot Mode Quickfix

I just pushed an update for BootMode:
- Exe files are now signed so Antivirus shouldn't complain that much.
- Fixed the issue where you couldn't exit Game Mode.
To apply the fix just open EmuDeck, set BootMode to Desktop and then to Game Mode again :)
PS: Sometimes the splash screen with the EmuDeck logo won't go away when you go back to the Desktop from Steam Game Mode, just close it from the task bar until I figure out why is doing that ;)
If you are stuck in Game Mode this is how you can go back to the desktop:
CTRL + ALT + DEL
Open Task Manager
Run new task -> Explorer.exe
Open Emudeck, turn Boot Mode off.

I’ve tried all ways to get out of game mode but the above doesn’t work. Do you have any other suggestions?

2024-02-05 20:58:29 +0000 UTCHi we all appreciate what you do here even I’m grate for the effort you have put tin to making emudeck work just as great on windows but there’s this is that keeps bugging me for some reason when I add new roms in the correct folders and go to rom manager to add them to steam not all of my roms show up in the rom manager and it’s not emulator specific it’s at random when you find time I would be grateful for you to look into this

2024-01-04 13:28:19 +0000 UTCAfter updating to the EA version and using steam rom manager to re add Emulation Station to steam I keep getting stuck on a black screen saying EMU Deck and a pop up in the bottom right about cloud sync. Any idea how I can get past this?

2024-01-03 19:58:35 +0000 UTCOn my Legion Go I was getting a black screen after reboot even after allowing everything in the AV software including just excluding the entire folder when the individual files did nothing. Out of curiosity I tried a ctrl-shift-esc into task manager and to see if the start_game_mode.exe would work if I did run new task direct from the gamemode folder, and it worked fine. So I did a restart and now it works automatically every time with no issues. So if anyone else is getting that black screen, its worth a try to see if it gets it going for you.

2024-01-03 11:03:47 +0000 UTCwe are currently not using that exact file, as long as the enable.exe, disable.exe and login.exe are not flagged you are good to go. What antivirus are you using?

2024-01-03 07:38:24 +0000 UTCWell I managed to get it to install this time doing nothing different to last time lol, but now I’ve tried to change boot mode to steam ui and upon restart steam doesn’t even start so I’m left with a black screen and have to change it back to desktop mode, I’ve tried this twice now and having no luck with it, I’ve made exceptions for everything with windows defender as well

2023-12-31 02:58:21 +0000 UTCI actually saw that today and the cmd line output made me think the windows store window needed to be closed after it was up to date. I closed that window and the installation continued successfully. Hope that helps callum.

2023-12-28 09:07:16 +0000 UTCHi, ever since I joined the patreon and switched over to the early access version, I keep getting “Heur.AdvMLB” and “start_game_mode.exe” keeps getting removed. Didn’t happen with the normal (non early access) release. I saw your post about pushing an update fixing exe files from being flagged by antivirus, so I updated and tried again. Still getting the same virus warning and file quarantined messages. It seems like most things are working but I’m paranoid I either actually have a virus or things didn’t install correctly and I’ll run into issues. Is there something I should be doing differently with the install to keep things from being flagged?
