[COMMISSION] SIDESTORY OF ZETA (Chaser & Hickory)

And with this, the story is complete. Yup, it ends on a total cliffhanger. The next update to this will be mecha profiles and an interview from the original compilation volume (not present in the newer version, sadly). Also, there was some additional text that was present in the initial serialization in B-CLUB that was omitted from the compilations.

Granada, a former Zeon lunar base and the site where the One Year War peace treaty was signed. The Federation, eyeing its state-of-the-art facilities, dreamed of transforming it into a mobile suit powerhouse alongside the lunar-based Anaheim Electronics. However, as technicians and workers from Side 3 and those dissatisfied with the Federation government gathered, it became a stronghold for the anti-Federation organization AEUG. Whispers suggest the Federation's hands are tied, unable to crush Granada for fear of Melanie Hugh Carbine's wrath should Anaheim become collateral damage in a lunar showdown.

At Granada, development of the new mobile suit Z-GUSTAV was underway. The Zeta Project aimed not only to develop next-generation mobile suits but also units adapted for Newtypes, potentially threatening the Federation Forces upon completion. The Z-Gustav, while far surpassing the Federation's Gundam Mk-II and MK-III in capabilities, incorporates a transformation mechanism previously thought impossible to miniaturize. Its flight mode, called a Waverider, enables atmospheric re-entry, making it a formidable high-performance mobile suit.

With the Z-Gustav's completion, the AEUG has built up a space force far superior to the Federation's. Will the day come when Amuro Ray, AEUG's prodigal son, takes the reins of the Z-Gustav and reignites the fires of rebellion? And what of Char, the Red Comet now cloaked in Titans' colors - what endgame does he pursue from within the belly of the beast?

Expect the mecha, original mecha, interview, and poster in the final update!

Thanks for the info. That was on my list of guesses since I'd encountered it before, but I had no way of verifying.

At first, I didn't know why, but when I compared the actual serial run in MJ and B-CLUB, a little digging showed that the chapters were split up when they were serialized. Act-2 AMURO was cut in two for B-CLUB magazine, Act-3 CONTACT was cut in four, Act-4 CHASER was cut in two, leaving just Act-1 in MJ and Act-5 whole during their serialization.

Out of curiosity, are there more chapters of this? The Mangadex info says it ends with chapter 10, but when you posted Chaser/Hickery here (C4-5, per Mangadex), you said the cliffhanger was the ending. I'd love to think there is more, but I expect I'm just not seeing an obvious disconnect...

Thanks so much for this one. It's certainly a mixed bag. Blow-away great premise, far too short for the end result to achieve anything, and art that's definitely, um, ... I'd love to know what happened to the project. Was it planned as ongoing and flopped? Artist lost interest? Meant to be a prologue to something that never came about? Too much to hope that there's a nice, meaty novel set in the same AU out there somewhere... Still a great idea, though.
