EmuDeck - Future Roadmap
Added 2023-04-27 20:38:58 +0000 UTCHello!
This week we released 2.1, one our biggest update yet, there were some bugs but those have been fixed and now we are on 2.1.3
What's next for EmuDeck for SteamOS?
We already have our 2.2 version layed out, but that's a secret for now :). Patrons with early access will get those features before release. We plan to make EmuDeck more easy to use on other Linux distros too.
How is early access (EA) going to work VS public release?
Each public release is a bundle of new features, emulators and optimisations, EA users will get all these new stuff as soon as they are ready after being tested, no need to wait for a public release to get them! How long will that be an exclusive for EA users? It depends, sometimes can be weeks, but sometimes it can be months, we've been working several months since our 2.0 release until 2.1 was ready.
This will cover both SteamOS and Windows versions of EmuDeck
What about EmuDeck WE?
We are currently giving the final touches to the SaveSync feature, as you can see in the video, its working pretty well so far, but the UI is still pretty rough and we need to take care of situations where conflicts might arise and revert saved games to a previous states because of bad syncs. When this is more stable EmuDeck WE Beta will be renamed EmuDeck WE Early Access ( it will be a seamless transition for you )
After that or alongside that, new emulators! Citra is next on the list, and then we'll probably create a poll so you can decide what to port from SteamOS next.
Is EmuDeck for Android still a thing?
Yes! We got so far as having the UI ported in an app with all the navigation working as expected... but it's definitely in the back burner since SteamOS and Windows are the priority, Android is a closed system and it's gonna limit what we can do, but we'll try our best to help Android users get into emulation like we've done with SteamOS users.
EmuDeck for... macOS?
EmuDeck is coded in a Mac, so this is an easy one to port, since everything works, just have to make some adjustments here and there... and change the linux emulators... for Mac emulators :)
But that's still just something for the future, maybe something to do while resting between releases as a hobby, we'll see.
EmuDeck + XxxxxXX?
Too soon to tell you more, but expect us collaborating with other players of the scene like we've done with Steam Rom Manager on their new themes and functionalities. Stay tuned!
That's all for today, thanks all of you for supporting us so we can keep doing what we like most: to make Emulation easy for everyone!
