The Spirit of Cursemas
With that out of the way, here's a look at our slate of content that's coming up over December, which we’re appropriately referring to as ‘Cursemas’. A few weeks ago, the three of us drove up to the Royal Armouries Museum in the UK Leeds to record a bumper stocking of content with Jonathan - SIX whole videos are coming your way over the next month or so, all recorded in-person with your favourite KOFAA.
Look, we're all in the same room! Now, I know we talk a lot about how ‘we couldn’t do this without your support’, but allow me to elaborate, as I think this venture is a great example of what exactly we mean by that.
Before that though, it’s worth a quick look back at where the three of us were a year ago. As anyone who has been through the same thing will know, losing your livelihood is absolutely shattering. We have families and partners to support, bills to pay, and work that we’re passionate about making, and all that was ripped away overnight. Starting EXP was not an easy decision: as natural a fit as it might have seemed from the outside, we had absolutely no idea if EXP would work, if it would be able to sustain us, and whether anyone would actually find it, watch it, support it, and so on.
Cursed proudly stickers on display. That’s where you, the Patrons, come in. Thanks to your support, 10 months on, EXP is sustainable (and then some). We feel like we make better content than ever, we have fun doing it and, maybe most importantly, we’re doing it for us. However much of a risk starting EXP was, the rewards have been a hundred fold.
So, by way of a thank you to all of you who have supported us on Patreon, we wanted to reinvest your support in the form of a suite of extra special, high production value content to round off our first calendar year as a channel, and a company.
Adam hard at work.Previously the only time we’ve been able to go up to Leeds and record with Jonathan in-person was for our Ready or Not IRL Special. That was a sponsored video, where Void Interactive’s sponsorship enabled us to pay for our time, Jonathan’s time, the time of the other staff who work at the Royal Armouries, and all the associated costs with filming on-location at the museum. Without putting specific numbers to it, the costs associated with a trip like that are roughly 10x the production costs of a regular EXP episode.
The sponsorship enabled us to put all those things in place for one day at the Royal Armouries, and we made one video from that trip. In short: it’s expensive.
What could be waiting under the tree?Cursemas has been months in the planning, took all 3 of us 4 full days working on the production on location to put together, and will require weeks of work in post-production too. But it’s something we wanted to do, and something that was only possible thanks to people like you supporting us on Patreon.
So, to be crystal clear, your support has enabled:
A 600+ mile round trip for the EXP crew, and all of our equipment
The hire of some extra equipment
A 3 night stay in Leeds, including food
2 full days of Jonathan’s time
2 full days of Royal Armouries fees, including support staff and shooting locations
Miscellaneous expenses (e.g. props, batteries, super secret surprises etc)
The above also doesn’t take into account the time we’ve spent on pre-production - planning the trip and the shoot, capturing gameplay, preparing equipment etc - and the time we are yet to spend on post-production - editing the videos, creating thumbnails etc.
Find someone who looks at you the way Dave looks at Jonathan Ferguson, the Keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries Museum...As I hope you’ll see, as much as we love our normal content, there’s no substitute for being in the same room together. The 6 videos we’ve got planned for the next month or so will be some of the best, and most fun videos we’ve ever made, and none of it would have happened without you all.
Our first Cursemas Special launches Friday 28th November, 15:00GMT / 12:00ET / 07:00PT.
"Come up to Leeds, we'll get together, have a few laughs..."So, all together now: we couldn’t do this without your support. We really mean it.
Thanks again for your support, and we’ll see you on the Discord.
Lots of love,
EXP x

Just want to say I find it ironic that Jonathan works for a non-profit museum. Yet we at EXP contribute to his suffering on behalf of Dave and team, all for our entertainment. Yes John, we love you, and we love the Royal Armories. As an American, I hope to visit the Royal Armories in Leeds one day. Bless you Jonathan, for dealing with the crap Dave subjects you to.

2025-11-22 08:50:31 +0000 UTCI'm so glad to have found this channel! I loved the content and format from before and was gutted when it was cut. Discovering EXP was honestly one of my biggest "oh FUCK yeah!!" moments of 2025, surpassed only by adopting my first ever rescue dog (Mollydog Tealof, or Molly for short). Having been in the position of losing my livelihood in 2023 and having to rebuild, I have an idea of what you all went through. I'm so happy you took the plunge it's paying off. Thanks for all the great content in 2025, and here's to even more good times in 2026 and beyond!

2025-11-21 13:28:58 +0000 UTCThanks to you all as well! I’m glad my money is going towards this cause - despite appearances you guys are enabling and producing enthusiastic and approachable edu-tainment through the lens of video game analysis. Here’s to another year 🎉

2025-11-21 12:58:14 +0000 UTCThe amount and quality of the content coming out of this channel makes it easily one of the best worth Patreon I’ve been a part of. It pays for itself many times over in quaintly entertainment and I couldn’t be happier to be able to contribute to your guy’s work. It is peak every time and I cannot wait to see your super secret Christmas surprises!
