Patiently waiting for the full reaction.

Full reaction???

Shutter Crazy

Jay and Amber, I know that you can't see it, but I'm doing a little jig because we get to share the movie with you guys now. I'll do the syncing if necessary because I love your reactions, but it is so much easier to just watch along and not worry about missing something because my brain is constantly wondering, "Am I out of sync? How come they haven't laughed at the joke yet? (Grumpy Old Men, for example) Why has my copy of the movie crashed yet again? $#@& streaming services!" So, now we all can just enjoy the movies and your great reactions to them! Thank you!

Kevin

Hi, Amber and Jay, is the full reaction of this one already out somewhere? Hope you haven't run into trouble with it.

Raven Dark

No matter how many times I watch, I still come back for more. That says a lot for a movie of this age and length. It's almost 60 years old and still in the top 10 grossing films of all time. ♥️🎶🥰

Carolee Barry

I hope they can get around to Singin’ in the Rain or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Casey Salley

Jinx! I just told them the same thing, the food there is OFF THE CHAIN

Y’ALLLLL if you and the family ever take a trip up to New England, the Von Trapp family settled in the mountains of Vermont (immediately after the events of the film) opened a brewery \ inn and it is straight up paradise. Perfect views, amazing beer and the best sausages and potatoes you will ever have. And it’s still run and staffed by Von Trapp kids, grandkids, great grandkids…plus a little museum by the restaurant dedicated to Maria and the family.

This movie is the first movie I saw in a theater. My father was an usher there the year it came out. I was 5 years old but I remember everything from that evening. I remember the car ride there and the excitement. I remember the intermission feeling like it was taking hours to pass by because I wanted to go back and watch more! I'm very much looking forward to watching this with you.

The Von Traps made it to America. They opened a hotel in Stowe, Vermont. Georg and Maria and some of their children are buried at that complex. The grand children and great grandchildren run it now. It’s called the Trapp Family Lodge.

Trivia has downers At least there's good news at the end of it

Karl Kraus

I love watching this movie. Also loved being in the stage version. I have played Mother Abbess twice with the same theatre company in 2012 & 2023. Glad you enjoyed it. In 2012 when I was in the show the first daughter that Maria and Georg had came to our show. Told wonderful stories to us. Her name was Rosmarie. She was 92 at that time. She died about a year later.

Patty Krause-Davis

this is really kind of a downer to comment about this....

omg, are you me?

i joined simply so i can watch the full length with you guys. you both have such an appreciation for good cinema. i remember when i was a child, this film came out on 2 vhs tapes because it was so long, and i watched them both so much that the film became scratched and ruined from rewinding it constantly. i was only 6 at the time. this film made me want to become an actress like dame julie andrews. i thought she was the most magical thing. i can't wait for the full length so i can experience your first time with this masterpiece.

Snax

Oh I love you guys' reaction to this ❤️- can't wait to watch the full length version in a bit. Would love to see more reactions to Rogers and Hammerstein musicals-highly recommend South Pacific-but any of the old MGM musicals are good choices too.

Dame Julie Andrews has another of those female voices I put her every bit on a par with the likes of Linda, Karen Carpenter etc. Miss Andrews was more a Broadway and Motion Picture Star but did record some albums. Any of her Christmas songs are amazing. She was in the original Broadway cast of My Fair Lady (one of the greatest musicals in Broadway history) When Warner Brothers got the film rights they didn’t think Julie Andrews was a big enough star so they cast Audrey Hepburn who was a great actress but couldn’t sing anywhere in Miss Andrews neighborhood. Julie Andrews instead made a movie for Walt Disney called Mary Poppins and won the Academy Award for best actress over Audrey Hepburn. When she accepted the Oscar she said “I’d like to thank Jack Warner for making all this possible” because he passed her up for My Fair Lady. She has a lot of spunk. A lovely generous lady whose charity work is legendary.

This comment made me smile. The movie is pure joy.

Raven Dark

I can't wait to see the full musical numbers when you watch them

Karl Kraus

Started the YT reaction and didn’t even get past the intro. This is gonna need to be a full reaction watch. It’s been a year since I watched it and it was one of my mom’s favorite so for her I’m gonna watch it with you guys!

Matt Brodzinski

You've heard of the song My Favorite Things because either 1. it's on the radio during Christmastime or 2. Ariana Grande made her own song with its tune

Karl Kraus

Oh this will be lovely to watch with you later today. It is heartbreaking that Julie Andrews can now only sing simple melodies and in low key due to a botched vocal cord surgery to remove nodules. If you haven't seen the original Mary Poppins movie, her singing voice and acting shine brightly there as well.

Kim

FABULOUS FILM! So glad to see your reactions to it. Today we're lucky if a movie stays in the theaters for 2 or 3 weeks. When Sound of Music came out it stayed in one of our local theaters for over a year. Truly record setting back then and impossible today.

Doug Law

If Jordan is open to more musicals, y’all should check out Chicago. It centers around two Jazz Age performers and murderesses in the 1920’s. It’s based off of the 1975 Broadway musical of the same name. It was nominated for 12 Academy Awards and won 6 of those nominations (including Best Picture).

Patty Estrada

Christopher Plummer, the captain, didn't like talking about the movie He always said it was one of the most frustrating and unhappiest times he ever had while making a movie He called this the Sound of Mucus In the years before he passed though, he sort of came around and gave small compliments about it Kind of like SIr Alec Guinness making Star Wars, playing old Obi-Wan

Karl Kraus

The incomparable Julie Andrews is the actress who plays Maria She almost didn't take the role because it was pretty much like the role she had the year before, Mary Poppins

Karl Kraus

Oh awesome! I'm so ready for this!! I love this movie. And now you are introduced to the great Julie Andrews!!

Jayce

The movie was filmed mostly on location in Salzburg, Austria I believe the only time where the movie was in studio was during the gazebo scenes, probably the abbey scenes too The shots of the Alps and the surroundings is the most gorgeous opening of any movie ever There are tours given year round, like the Lord of the Rings does

Karl Kraus

This was the movie that got me into musicals and gave others a chance

Karl Kraus

This is a long time coming It was worth the wait It was a pleasure giving this suggestion to you This is one of my family's favorite movies ever and it introduced me to my German heritage, the good AND the bad This will be one of my favorite reactions from you guys outside of the star wars movies Glad this is finally crossed off the list!

Karl Kraus

YES!

Raven Dark

Jay usually isn’t as well but it was PHENOMENAL! And also such a great storyline

Jordan Robinson

I’m not a huge fan of musicals, but Sound of Music is one of my top 5 movies and always will be.
