CHANGE TO BASIC $1 KOBOLD TIER IN JANUARY 2022

This post doesn't affect anyone except those in the $1 Kobold tier. 

If you're not in the $1 Kobold tier (the most basic tier), then you can ignore this post. If you are in the $1 Kobold tier, then you should read this post. Although you can skip the next paragraph as it's just an explanation as to why I am making changes.

I had someone recently sign up to the $1 Kobold tier and then immediately cancel the same day (I think it was within the same hour the patron signed up. I hold no ill will towards that patron, it just a thing I have to think about). It got me thinking that I need to change something because all my games for $1 with no future support isn't a financially good price decision for me. Currently I have been making 4 finished game updates a month. When I made this Patreon years ago, I was averaging about 2 or 3 and the price was $1 a month, same as now. Also I didn't have a big gaming collection years ago. Plus inflation is a thing in the real world and certain things cost more today than what they did when I initially made this Patreon. Also, I do not actually receive the full $1 payment. Any amount you pay in taxes do not go to me. I live in the USA, so I have to pay over 15% on everything I make because of self-employment tax. Plus Patreon has hosting fees and conversion fees, which changes every month but is usually over 10% total a month that is taken out of my account. Overall, I'm receiving less than 75%, which results in me making less than 75 cents per $1 Kobold patron. If I had 3000 patrons in the $1 Kobold tier then I wouldn't be thinking about finances, but that is not even close to the amount of patrons I currently have. 

I plan on ending the $1 Kobold tier in January 2022.

The $2 Kobold ★ tier, the $2 Otter tier. and all other tiers above that price will stay the same. For those in the $1 Kobold tier, you can either upgrade to a higher tier (Kobold ★ and Otter are simply one dollar more a month) or you can cancel your subscription. The upgrades will include additional feature(s) than the current $1 Kobold tier. Otter tier allows a patron to vote in polls while Kobold ★ gives a patron access to monthly WIP game files. If a patron decides to upgrade, then that patron gets to decide what tier to be upgraded to.

If you wish to cancel your subscription, I suggest you do so before January. I plan on deleting the $1 Kobold tier in January and if you are still in that tier on January 1st, then Patreon will charge you $1 and then I will have to refund you that $1 and delete your remaining access to my Patreon because the $1 Kobold tier will be deleted in that month. I will not be deleting the Kobold tier on January 1st. It'll probably be deleted around January 3 just in case someone decides to upgrade their tier after Patreon has started the January billing period.

Nothing is changing in November and nothing is changing in December. If you decide to upgrade your tier, then you can upgrade now in November or you can upgrade in December or you can upgrade at the start of January. I will probably send out messages to those who are still in $1 Kobold tier in late December.
