Keep Development Hell Games on Polls Even if they receive Zero Votes?
Added 2021-09-14 22:51:40 +0000 UTCDevelopment hell game is a term I use for a game that has tied for first in a new game poll and I might have spent some time working on but I ultimately made another game that also tied for first instead of completing the development hell game.
Currently, if there is a tie for first, we have a revote. When I first made this Patreon, we didn't have revotes, I tried working on everything that tied for first and the tied games that didn't get finished simply stayed as a polling option.
During these ties, usually the tied games only received one or two votes. This was back when I had less patrons in polling tiers. Also, some of the voters are no longer patrons.
The current list of themes that are development hell games include: Bear; Circus; Orc; Pledge Night; Reality Game Show; and Toy Store. Six game themes total.
Bear and Orc themes tied with one vote in the July 2019 poll (Poll Results #1) against the game theme that ultimately became Pup in the Park. Orc theme tied again with four votes in the June 2020 poll (Poll Results #12) against the game theme that ultimately became Dino Island Escape.
Toy Store theme tied with one vote in the August 2019 poll (Poll Results #2) against the game themes that ultimately became A Pet Project For Science & Tavern Tricks.
Circus theme tied with two votes in the September 2019 poll (Poll Results #3) against the game theme that ultimately became Smashing Stag Party.
Reality Game Show theme tied with one vote in the October 2019 poll (Poll Results #4) against the game theme that ultimately became Fur Friend Fantasy.
Pledge Night theme tied with two votes in the April 2020 poll (Poll Results #10) against the game theme that ultimately became Ditch or Hitch.
Anyways, currently if a development hell game receives zero votes on a poll, I still put it on the next poll as a consolation prize for previously tying once. It's been over a year since the last tie for any of the above games and they're still all included in the game polls, so maybe I should change the rule. If a game theme gets removed from the Popular Game Theme Poll, then a game theme from the New Game Theme Poll will take its place.
There are five options.
Option #1: Always have the game themes (Bear, Circus, Orc, Pledge Night, Reality Game Show, Toy Store) as a theme in the new game polls (Popular Game Theme Poll).
Option #2: Keep the game themes for now, remove the game theme in the future if the game theme receives zero votes in a future poll
Option #3: Remove the game theme if they receive zero votes in a current poll. Current poll will start with the results of the August 2021 poll results (Poll Results #26), which would mean Bear, Circus, Reality Game Show, and Toy Store themes stay while Orc and Pledge Night themes will be removed. If Bear, Circus, Reality Game Show, or Toy Store ever receive zero votes in the future, then the specific game will be removed from all future polls.
Option #4: Revote on each game theme (Bear, Circus, Orc, Pledge Night, Reality Game Show, Toy Store) separately to decide whether each specific game theme stays on future polls (Popular Game Theme Poll).
Option #5: Remove them all from future polls regardless of how many votes they have received in the last poll. All six game themes will be removed because each game theme has received zero votes in at least one poll: Bear, Orc, Reality Game Show, and Toy Store received zero votes in February 2020 poll results (Poll Results #8); Bear, Circus, and Reality Game Show received zero votes in April 2020 poll results (Poll Results #10); Bear, Reality Game Show, and Toy Store received zero votes in June 2020 poll results (Poll Results #12); Circus, Reality Game Show and Toy Store received zero votes in August 2020 poll results (Poll Results #14); Circus received zero votes in December 2020 poll (Poll Results #18); Circus, Reality Game Show, and Toy Store received zero votes in February 2021 poll (Poll Results #20); Orc and Pledge Night received zero votes in August 2021 poll (Poll Results #26).
I will reveal the results on September 28th. You can vote for multiple options if you like. If you're in a higher tier, then your vote will be increased (doubled, tripled, quadrupled, etc.) depending on the tier. If there is a tie, then we'll have a revote between the options that tied.
