Hey guys, we're running behind with the comic again this month but the colorist assures me he'll be able to get everything wrapped up before the new year. We're also still slowly moving forward on the new controls for the game but hit some slow downs even before the holiday season really started. There's not much left to do for Ayla's new motion controls so I expect the next push will come shortly after the new year. That's when I had planned to get the public demo out.
To be honest, it's hard to keep a good pace when it's just me on the artwork and the guys making the code are doing it on the side after getting home from their regular jobs. After the public demo is out I expect to see a strong surge in interest. If the support on patreon goes up enough to hire on a coder part-time then we will be in okay shape and can keep going like we are now, except faster. Right now, I'm still working from the fumes of the kickstarter and the funding on here mostly covers the monthly comic production. That isn't going to work much longer. I'd gotten some questionable business advice to not divide the comics and the game because it's all happening under the Secret Stash banner but I questioned the wisdom of that and now I'm sure it's going to be smarter to have the game development and the comics store completely separate.
I've mentioned this before but, for any newcomers, I'll be switching the focus of this patreon EXCLUSIVELY over to the game development on January 1. Keeping those revenue streams separate is going to make it possible to really see how the game support is doing. If the patreon does fall short, I'll be faced with the choice of going back to kickstarter or dropping production and moving onto something else. Because right now we're in a bad feedback loop where there isn't enough financial support to keep the game development running full-time, and what we are making is coming out too slowly to create more interest. Something's gotta give.
