Seeing some awesome renders on the Secret Stash's Discord channel inspired me to brush off my 3d software, salvage some files from an old hard drive, and create a reference render for the start scene of the game. The lighting isn't quite the same as my original animation sketch concept, but using the HDRI background limited my options a bit.
The rocky outcropping was made with photoscans, arranged to roughly mimic the original composition. The model for Ayla is Genesis 2 with a lot of tweaks. This render was mostly for fun, but was also really useful. Concept art like this can be really helpful for level design and I need to remember it's an option when I'm doing that.
