Hey Critical Crew!

We are constantly looking for ways to loop you all in on the process (i.e. the creation of the #Hivemind group in the Discord community), and one thing we thought could towards that end is to start doing end-of-week recaps where we highlight some of the things that took place this previous week!

So without further ado, he's what our team was up to this past week:

We received the updates on the Kitsune artwork for July's player race (seen above on the header). The race is already written by Cameron, and was shared to the Hivemind for additional ideas and revisions, before moving on to Layout.
Cameron knocked out 3 of the 5 maps for the month. Previewed below is for the upcoming "Tatsu Waterfall" encounter.

Connor tackled the writing of the items for the release, before moving onto the spells.
Dillon made progress on the statblocks and feats. completing a first pass on the Tatsu, Oshi-oni, and Hikeshi baba The Hikeshi Baba turned out to be a very evocative stat block as the forerunner to other, more evil, yokai. Check out these two features in the excerpt below and just picture how this could give the party a sense of what's to come!:

Gloom Draw. The hikeshi baba’s presence draws evil fey to it. All Evil aligned fey within 1 mile of a hikeshi baba feel a strange urge to venture to the hikeshi baba’s location during the night.

Gloom. The hikeshi baba exudes an aura of gloom. All creatures within 30 feet of the hikeshi baba must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be afflicted with an intense sadness for 1 minute. The creature can take an action or move on its turn, but not both, and it cannot benefit from features such as a fighter’s extra attack, the haste spell or any other action that would allow multiple attacks as part of an action, or multiple actions, the creature weeping incessantly. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the hikeshi baba’s Gloom for the next 24 hours.

Dillon also has been working to reexport all of the releases with bookmarks and hyperlinks to make our pdfs easier to navigate.i
