December's release 'Terrors of the Tundra' comes out in three days, so here's one final sneak peek at what's to come -the Ijraq! Check out this excerpt from the ijraq statblock to learn more about these terrifying creatures.
An ijraq (plural ijrait) is a mysterious shapeshifter said to snatch babies and leave them exposed to the elements until they starve or die of exposure. It is unknown why the creatures do this, but many believe that the ijrait were first formed from the spirits of creatures that wandered into the forests and became lost, stuck between the mortal realms and the worlds beyond. Many believe that the ijrait kidnap children either as a way to try and form a gateway between the worlds caused by the child’s death, or as some strange ritual representing their own feelings of being lost in a cold, harsh environment.
