Great listen! Interstellar was pretty good but a little too sci-fi for me. My wife absolutely loves it. Great top 5! I want: 1) An actual coordinator of Star Wars live action / animated series / movies to make sure there is a well thought out plan moving forward. 2) good writing with great characters. 3) no political and/or other real world issues being brought into Star Wars. 4) Make use of existing characters where possible. For example, the original bounty hunters from Empire. Why can’t we get them in a Disney + series. Probably fit better in that format versus a movie. 5) Explore time periods we haven’t seen in live action / animation. Make full use of existing main characters.

Yup 100 percent I’ve seen the card. I just wondered if it was you on that pod or someone else as I enjoyed both pods. Cheers either way. I hadn’t seen the show at the time but it propelled me to watch the Netflix show.

It was the Menendez Twins. They were in the front row when the pic was taken.

Jeremy J. Lanning

It was perfect!!!

YES! Number 5!!!

Great Show!! My top 5 Expectations 1. Jedi need to be good. Need to be light side. (Acolyte, Jod, Baylon, Inquisitors all bad) (ahsoka, Obi-wan, Luke all cut themselves off or leave) 2. Star Wars needs MOVIES on the big screen. 3. Darth Vader needs a movie. That is dark and he bad and hardcore and no remorse hunts down a dozen good Jedi,. 4. Make another big open world video game. I have very much enjoyed the last 4 major Star Wars game releases 5. Disney and Lucas Film need to thank RFR . Think about how many people have stayed engaged with Star Wars through the ups and downs because of RFR!!

A little off topic but I'm really enjoying hearing about the filming of Landman

Great listen thanks Couple of points you mentioned the trading card pod you did previously was that the one when you discussed the Martinez brothers card around November time? Or was that someone else. You mentioned you patreon 4 other shows what are they. I do this and a uk Star Wars show called Star Wars sessions I enjoyed the Jimmy Mac stance on his outlook on life regarding people who work to retire. Stopped me in my tracks a bit as I feel I’m more that style of character. Thank you lovely listen Cheers

Great episode! Good talk and I can totally relate to Jeremy’s starting point regarding loving everything Star Wars, although having my criticisms or thoughts and wants on the stories. Great to listen to this show, thanks to the both of you!

Tomas from Amsterdam (NL)

As always, a great episode, Jeremy! I always enjoy listening to your perspectives on fandom, and a reminder to be grateful for what we have. JMac, you need to watch Interstellar! Run, don’t walk; run and see this film!

Scott St. Louis

Always a smart and articulate chat between you guys. Good stuff to help get through this cold cold day!

Peter Beisser

I’ve had 1/2 a bottle of tequila and ended up in the new version of the rock and roll McDonald’s. Can confirm wackiness still happens! Great listen, fans are at a weird point right now. Everyone has different expectations and the creatives in charge are the ones responsible for setting those expectations.

Tyler Page

Great listen.

Great episode, Jeremy! Loved your list, especially the expectation to have more Luke! I love Skeleton Crew, Andor, etc but Star Wars at the end of the day still is/should be From The Adventures of Luke Skywalker!

I didn’t like Tenet as much. I saw it once, when it was released via streaming. My expectations were sky-high after seeing the trailer and I loved the premise. Good acting, excellent special effects but it didn’t fully come together for me. Very loud, drowning out the characters. Maybe I need to see it a second time, in a theater. What did you think of it?

Ben P. Stein

Did you like Tenet?

Jeremy J. Lanning

Yeah, that makes sense. I’m also a big fan of Nolan’s and loved Interstellar too.

Ben P. Stein

He tends to differentiate vfx and cgi sometimes. I think he parsed it out saying that no shot was entirely cgi or something that effect.

Jeremy J. Lanning

That’s right!!

Jeremy J. Lanning

Great conversation as always. My kid, who is in film school, tells me that practical effects and computer-generated effects are inextricably intertwined nowadays and the idea of a modern film with mostly or all practical effects is a myth. In this Hollywood Reporter article, Oppenheimer's VFX supervisor explains that Nolan really meant they didn't use CGI to create things like the nuclear explosion from scratch, but computer-generated effects still enhanced many of the shots including the explosions. That said, I agree that starting with practical effects for the visuals was a great approach for the movie. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/yes-oppenheimer-plenty-vfx-shots-1235573104/

I always love a good RFR Q&A. I’m only about 30 minutes in so far. Bret Michaels was in a car accident, but I think you are also thinking of Vince Neil (Mötley Crüe) that got wasted and wrecked his car. His passenger, Razzle, drummer for Hanoi Rocks, died instantly. And two people in the other car were seriously injured. Bret Michaels only injured himself and damaged his Ferrari.

Great Q&A. Love hearing Star Wars fans that are around no matter what. Jeremy is and should be an inspiration to all Star Wars fans.

Tyler Roeloffs

Looking forward to listening.
