Nellie is kind and confident and no-nonsense, and swiftly sets Dolores straight when Dolores unknowingly, with no malice, mischaracterizes Nellie with a slur. Once Dolores settles into life in the basement, Nellie grows fond of Dolores, and even becomes a surrogate younger sister. Storyline: After 16 years in prison Dolores, caught in a bust with 50 pounds of her dealer-boyfriend’s weed, returns to her radically gentrified old neighborhood and sets up shop giving massages in the basement under her old stoner buddy’s dilapidated empanada shop…and before long becomes the unlikely Sweeney Todd of Washington Heights.
