Log Line: Based on the novel by JAROSLAV KALFAR. Orphaned as a boy, raised in the Czech countryside by his doting grandparents, Jakub
Procházka has risen from small-time scientist to become the country's first astronaut. When a dangerous solo mission to Venus offers him both the chance at heroism he's dreamt of, and a way to atone for his father's sins as a Communist informer, he ventures boldly into the vast unknown. But in so doing, he leaves behind his devoted wife, Lenka, whose love, he realizes too late, he has sacrificed on the altar of his ambitions. Alone in Deep Space, Jakub discovers a possibly imaginary giant alien spider, who becomes his unlikely companion. Over philosophical conversations about the nature of love, life and death, and the deliciousness of bacon,
the pair form an intense and emotional bond. Will it be enough to see Jakub through a clash with secret Russian rivals and return him safely to Earth for a second chance with Lenka?

travel and often looks queasy and unkempt. He misses his wife, Lenka, but knows that this mission means a great deal to his family's legacy as well as his country. He thinks he's losing his mind when he befriends an alien creature who has boarded his spaceship, but the two grow close as he reaches
the end of his journey.

developing puts a massive strain on their relationship. Before their last scheduled video call, Lenka flees town to escape the press, telling Peter she can't do it anymore.

VOICEOVER The creature who invades Jakub's ship to learn about him and humans. He looks like a giant spider, the size of a Doberman, with fuzzy grey/black fur and long legs. It has 34 eyes which can turn into screens and projectors when necessary. He and Jakub bond during the final leg of the journey, and he learns about humans through Jakub's thoughts, feelings, and memories. He refuses to provide
evidence of his existence for Jakub to report back as his own kind forbids it. Upon reaching the purple cloud he reveals that he is dying and thanks Jakub for his companionship.
