[ HUNTER ]
PLEASE SUBMIT ALL RACES. BIPOC ACTORS ENCOURAGED. 15 - 21 to play 16 - 17. Hunter is uncomfortable around other people and suffers from a dysfunctional family life, but he hides all that weak-ass emotional stuff behind his one true passion: heavy metal music. Metal is the magic spell that turns his fears and vulnerabilities into force and power. It is the shield he uses to bludgeon his way through the world, to confront all obstacles… and to keep other people away. Kevin is his only friend, which is fine, because he’s pretty sure the other kids at his high school are conformist a*sholes who don’t know anything about anything. Hunter and Kevin are going to start the Band that Will Show Them All. This is his reason for being. He is smart, driven, passionate, and extremely verbal. LEAD
[ KEVIN ]
PLEASE SUBMIT ALL RACES. BIPOC ACTORS ENCOURAGED. 15 - 21 to play 16 - 17. Kevin’s thoughts and feelings run much deeper than his ability to express them. He’d have a lot more friends if he weren’t so shy, but he is, so instead of a lot of friends, he has Hunter. At first, Hunter leads and Kevin follows. If Hunter says that Kevin is the drummer in their metal band, Kevin agrees, even though he doesn’t really know what metal is, and only knows how to play the snare drum in the marching band. But it turns out Kevin has a real aptitude for metal drumming. And when he meets Emily, he dares to reach out and connect with another human being, and it turns out he’s pretty damn good at that too. Kevin’s heart is big enough for love and metal. LEAD
[ EMILY ]
PLEASE SUBMIT ALL RACES. BIPOC ACTORS ENCOURAGED. 15 - 21 to play 16 - 17. The only serious musician in this film, Emily is an outsider with impulse control issues that sometimes get the better of her. Her absence from the mainstream social scene has given her time to develop other aspects of her life. She’s smart, sensitive and extremely talented. She’s never really had a chance to share herself with other people, though, not until she meets Kevin. She and Kevin are very good for each other, they draw each other out of their shells – but her relationship with Kevin puts her at odds with Hunter, which creates conflict, and Emily doesn’t always do so well with conflict. Sometimes it makes her…act unpredictably. LEAD
