#470 The Students’ Breakthrough

My name is Walkina, and I am one of the students studying at the farm.

When I first came here, I thought I would be used as a sacrifice to the gods.

But now, I’m having a lot of fun.

* * *

“The winner is Walkina!”

I won again.

I’ve been winning match after match since Sensei taught us a new... move? Technique?

My movements, power, and speed have drastically improved, making it easy for me to quickly jump my opponent and defeat them before they get to cast their spells.

“Another win for the humans!”

“Way to go, Walkina!!!”

My classmates let out unstinting praises.

If you look at the past results by race, the human race has won by a landslide.

No, a complete victory?

With Sensei’s physical strengthening method, the human race is now at its height of popularity in school.

“Wow, winning feels good!”

“And a complete victory, no less! It’s just perfect!”

“All thanks to the technique Sensei taught us!”

Excitement continues to arouse my fellow human classmates.

Who would’ve thought victory would feel this good?

“H-Hmph! Don’t get carried away!”

However, someone tries to damper the afterglow of our victory.

It’s one of the demon students.

“You puny humans lost during the Human-Demon War and are now under our control! How can you be so carefree that you forget that let a small victory get to your heads?! Know your place!”

“Say what now?”

But we were just innocently rejoicing...

Why would anyone stoop this low just because they’re unwilling to admit defeat?

“We know that. But that’s unrelated. What’s so bad about being happy with your achievements?”

“B-But, still, the bigger picture here is that...”

Maybe it’s because they’re bitter about their defeat that they’re trying to assert dominance by bringing up the war.

But you know, there’s this thing called tit for tat.

“Okay, but if we had this technique during the war, we might’ve won, no?”

“Hngh...”

See?

The human girl, not mincing her words, continues, “That’s all there is to winning a war, so don’t get too carried away either. If you want, we could start one right here and now. Just don’t come begging us for mercy if the entire human race tramples you with this technique.”

“Bring it on, bitch!!!”

The atmosphere had become increasingly hostile, and just when some people were ready to step in to try and stop the fight...

“No fighting!”

Ritheseus beat everyone else to the punch.

I knew it.

“It doesn’t matter who wins! What matters is whether or not there is peace! Both demons and humans must not destroy the peace they have worked so hard for!”

If he, an outstanding honor student, intervenes, no one would dare oppose him.

“Ugh...”

“What’s wrong with you, you goody-two-shoes...!”

At best, they could only respond with a few strained, dismissive threats.

“Our training here is not meant to beat someone or look down on them! We become strong so we can all work together to preserve peace!”

“Yeah! Ritheseus is right!”

“Eryngear?!”

Even his demoness girlfriend agrees...!

“Winning or losing doesn’t matter in a mock battle. What’s really important is that we make progress together through our hardships... Huh?”

Hm?

What’s wrong, Ritheseus?

His body suddenly started shaking...

“Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”

What?!

He flew away!

What’s going on?!

“Waaah! Waaaaah! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”

He flies straight up, almost like a launched rocket.

But why?

And how?!

“My biomana! I can’t control itttttt!”

Huh?

Ah...

The strengthening method using biomana Sensei taught us has already been mastered by all the human students, and naturally, that includes Ritheseus.

Despite the genius he is, he still doesn’t have complete control over it, so he tends to go out of control.

“But how does that make you fly...?”

I didn’t even know we humans possessed more biomana than other races until Sensei told us.

Then again, he also said Ritheseus has the most biomana among us.

That’s a genius for you, I guess...

“Ritheseus! Come back, Ritheseus!!!” shouts Eryngear on the ground, panicking.

His lack of control aside, anyone would be struck dumb if they saw this.

“Let’s get back to our training...!”

“I still have to help in the fields, so...”

In the end, everyone returned to their respective work.

Ritheseus’ noble sacrifice helped maintain peace.

* * *

“I’m sorry about earlier,” says Rhatil, a demon student.

We happen to be working together today.

“Some demons are still fixated on the victory in the war, thinking they’re the best.”

“Weren’t you also like that?”

“In the past, yes. But such arrogance was blown away as soon as I came to this farm.”

Well... This place does shatter people’s commonsense in unconventional ways.

When I first came here, I had no idea what was happening.

“The demons aren’t the most powerful people in the world. They are just a small, lowly race that can be found anywhere. If we’re talking about strong people, there’s Lord Saint, Sensei, Lady Veil, Horkosfon...”

“Stop. You probably won’t run out of candidates to list even after the sun has set.”

“Yeah...”

But I know what you mean.

Anyone who comes here immediately feels how insignificant they are.

“And now, you humans are beating us up in mock battles. Sometimes, I think, maybe we were just lucky we won the war and that the demons aren’t that special of a race.”

“I don’t think that’s true...”

“The demons can use magic, but you humans can use mana to strengthen your bodies straight away.”

“That’s just each race’s forte...!”

Isn’t that what Sensei and Lord Saint also said?

“But still, maybe the demon race isn’t ultimately fit for battle. It may be wrong for such a race to be called the champion of the earth.”

Rhatil seems to have thought about this a lot.

He’s not saying this because of what happened earlier; he genuinely thinks no such hierarchy should exist between human beings.

Each one has its own way of survival, and as long as you survive, you’re good.

But nothing I say would bring comfort to Rhatil, who has lost confidence.

I did not expect our newly-obtained power to be the cause of concern for others.
