This was a blast to work on and really practice some new stuff.
Sketch:
We roughly laid out anatomy front and back as well as planned out a fully clothed view of the character as well as setting up neatly organized places for the headshots of expression, the name of the character, information of the character, and his colour palette.
Lineart:
Finalizing details, we focused on keeping the line weight fairly even save for a few key points of axis where we felt the need to streghten the lineart. i.e. around the hair and under the chin/neck area as well as bent joints.
Finished product:
Boy did we have a lot to do! A full 8 hours later (with small breaks for water, food and restroom needs) and we completed this beautiful wolf/snow leopard hybrid. As I had freedom to choose his outfit, I thought it would be best to show how comfortable he would be in fairly cooler weather and thus gave him jeans, a jacket, and scarf and beanie. Azu's colours are fairly bright with accented red so we made his outfit rather desaturated sticking with dull brown, and blue keeping with his theme of the red accent of the scarf and hat.
All in all, it was really fun to put this together and I was glad to have further strengthed my anatomy practice as well as get a chance and even draw clothes and their folds!
What are some things you like to see in reference sheets?
