2024-12-29 05:42:12 +0000 UTCI hope you enjoyed the show. I was lucky enough to see the original cast twice. I have heard Jordan Fisher is a very good Orpheus behind Reeve of course. Did you see the touring cast or the Broadway cast?

2024-12-19 05:46:37 +0000 UTCDelighted by your chant 3 reaction specifically! i forgot that it makes me cry haha and seeing other people cry makes me cry so i had a good time. I think by the end of that you probably see why people who've listened to the musical were so adamant that he wasn't a bag guy despite how it could feel on a first react haha

2024-12-11 03:38:23 +0000 UTCExactly, it doesn't help that nowadays villain and antagonist gets used interchangeably by a lot of people... Like antagonist is literally just anyone against the protagonist 🤷

2024-12-10 22:09:33 +0000 UTCNow that you’re at this bit: Hades isn’t being malicious so much, but he is operating from a place of hurt and hopelessness and exhaustion, and that makes him seem awfully mean. Casting him as a villain flattens the nuance and then undercuts the pure beauty of They Danced, which makes me cry every time I listen to it. But Chant Reprise is my favorite song in the show, hands down. It’s a whole revolutionary anthem and then the blast of power from Hades at the end, reacting in anger because he’s being backed into a corner—his power relies on the workers not pushing back. He’s asserting the status quo. And then Epic III shifts his entire world on its axis, reminding him of how it used to be—how the world could be, instead of the way it is; it’s a huge turning point.

2024-12-10 21:57:45 +0000 UTCEpic III has always made me bawl. Hades was never meant to be a villain, but an antagonist. They make you think he's just some evil capitalist overlord, but he's actually someone who has been just as burned by the world and is now terrified of loss. So he overcorrected and made everything worse. It makes my chest ache.

2024-12-10 20:02:28 +0000 UTCHoorayyyy, my favorite area of the musical. It's good to see you, Casper! I worry that Hades had been alone for so long that he thought the only reason his wife would stay was because she enjoyed what goods he could offer her. Like his real self was no longer enough on its own. He's wrong of course, she's never needed any of his riches. Just her Hades, but the time and distance spent apart is the biggest enemy to their love.
