Apache Mega Break Instrument 🥁
Added 2025-09-15 17:18:41 +0000 UTCThe Apache has certainly been the most difficult of these breaks to work with so far. The original has such a unique tone and can be processed in so many different ways. But it can be tricky to get the groove to roll properly & to deal with the room noise & reverb etc.
In the end I went for 3 variations of the main break. A classic Source Direct roller style like that track A Made Up Sound which actually uses the Apache from the end of Young MC - Know How.
Apache v2 Pattern 2 EQ 168 SD

A punchy, stripped back version which can be used as a variation to the first.
Apache Pattern 168 1 Snappy
And a much more heavily compressed and processed version for harder styles.
Apache Pattern 168 8 Hard EQ
These 3 versions have been sliced into long sections with the shuffles also included.

As well that, I've followed a similar process to the last couple with loads of Akai Phasey FX, Delayed Roll FX, Akai Timestretch FX, Reverb Hits, Reverse Hits, Rattles & Lofi Half Speed.

I've translated the Renoise instrument to Ableton Rack, Sampler, Logic X, Bitwig, Direct Wave, Akai S3000 & SFZ! Please let me know if you have any problems & then Digitakt mk2 version will come later this week :)
Big up everyone! Which break you like to see next? 🥁

I have Funky Mule and Soul Pride up next too! Yea that could be cool picking one of my favourites. I love synthetic substitution. Great idea for a video follow up also - doing all my work for me :)

2025-10-02 09:45:21 +0000 UTCIncredible work here George. 🙏🙏🙏 Next breaks? My votes are: • Funky Mule • Soul Pride • Humpty Dump • The Worm 😎 Any of these would be amazing. 🙏 I guess you've done 'the big four', or at least the most commonly used ones in DnB, maybe you should pick your **personal** favourite break to do next, and do a video on why that is your favourite, and maybe feature some tunes you like that use it? 🤔 Could make for a cool idea for a video, too.

2025-10-01 12:36:55 +0000 UTCThanks Craig - This is my favourite compressor for Breaks - Purple Audio MC77 - Plugin Alliance It just has a good fattness and sound when slammed but I usually go quite light 100% mix or 30/40% mix and hit it pretty hard.

2025-09-16 09:01:17 +0000 UTCThanks bro! Appreciate the comment :) Apache was a good one to take on as it's quite a tricky break.

2025-09-16 09:00:36 +0000 UTCCheers Daniel! I recon I could make a whole pack of Break FX like that. Lots of filtering, downsampling, delays etc with resampling. Maybe an idea for the future!

2025-09-15 18:58:52 +0000 UTCTo complete the list of classics, the next one should probably be 'Funky Drummer'.
