Early Release

Bad news is always stressful - it's OK, and even a good thing to have some distractions to take your mind off it for a while.  Hopefully this video does just that.

The pandemic is way beyond anything that any of us can fix or control, but we can support each other through the tough times.  As we adjust to new routines, new financial situations and health fears - know that our prayers are with you and your families for safety and peace through this storm.

You're right in that there wouldn't be enough PPE to treat everyone like they have it, which is why all patients are supposed to be screened on arrival to the emergency department, and if that fails, during triage. In this case, both the screening nurse and triage nurse failed to recognize that this patient may have the virus, so she was sent to me with no isolation precautions. Thanks to testing shortages, it's not likely I'd be tested unless I get really sick. And it's entirely possible to pass it on while asymptomatic, but thankfully we wear surgical masks all the time, which protects others from catching it from us (not as much the other way around, as commonly thought).

With it being so widespread in the US it seems like every patient needs to be treated as if they have it just in case. There would not be enough PPE for that. How early in an infection can they test to see if you have it - rather than monitoring? If they don't test wouldn't it be possible for nurses to be asymptomatic and passing it to sick patients?

Hi Ann, thank you for the well wishes. I was cleared from that exposure, but it turns out I had one without any PPE at all, since we didn't suspect the patient had the coronavirus. So I'm still on monitoring, wondering if any small symptoms I have are just my asthma or allergies, or if it could be the virus. It's not nice being in almost constant worry like this. Your videos continue to be a source of relaxation and distraction, thank you so much! I do hope you and your family continue to stay well!

Thanks for your support Carolyn, stay home & stay safe 😀

Hi Christine, So hard to not be exposed when you're in emergency without proper protective gear. I hope that you're OK. Keep us updated.

What a fun video to watch! I cannot eat anything you create, but I happily support you for your artistry, creativity, professionalism, and quality. You are what is good about YouTube, Ann. Stay safe and stay healthy, to you and your loved ones.

Hi Ann, thanks for the video! I'm going to have to give these a try. I'm an American emergency nurse currently under monitoring (but still working!) for exposure to coronavirus patients without proper PPE. It's pretty scary, but I've been trying to distract myself with videos from all my favorite YouTubers, including you! Your videos have always been a source of stress relief for me, thank you for what you do! I hope you and your family stay healthy and safe during this.

Some really interesting ideas and I really appreciate that you have shown how the imperfect creations of a beginner can still make a beautiful addition to a dessert. I’m hoping that the chocolate cake at the start of the video is amongst your recipes and off to search for that now! It looks moist and delicious 😋
