The best stories always have tragedy. If every story ends with the "good guy" winning and the "bad guy" losing, we as viewers lose out on the suspense of not knowimg whats gonna happen from one moment to the next. I understand everyones initial reaction to joels death. I was taken aback when it happened in the game but joel was a killer and a murderer. He even showed acceptance to what Abby was doing to him because he knew he deserved to die. The story wad always about ellie. Not joel. Joel was the focal point out of neccessity. We had to grow to love joel to feel his death. If he doesnt die the story cant grow. Its just becomes a soap opera drama story that everyone would hate or get tired of.
