i agree with your last point about dexter shouldn't have gotten with Rita. personally i think it was selfish from his part knowing he's STILL struggling with being a serial killer who enjoys killing yea he kills bad people but he also enjoys it because he's mentally sick. what he shoulda done (and his dad harry) is gotten some mental help. he needs mental help for his illness not putting other people at risk due to his killer tendencies...

Doakes was a hardened killer in special forces so him recognising Dex as another killer is at least plausible. A bit of antagonism over Dex seeing Quinn pocket money is hardly a reason. Hiring a P.I to investigate suggests you have reason to suspect Dex is hiding something but Dex has given Quinn no reason as far as I can remember.
