NAME: Shiloh Jay Reed
OCCUPATION: singer/guitarist of Black Siren
POSITIVES: life of party, creative, witty
NEGATIVES: low tolerance, kinda dumb, snappy
A world famous rockstar with an attitude to match who’s basically gotten through life on talent, not intelligence. Ever the party boy, he’s fun to be around but also if he doesn’t like something he will let you know. Dramatically.
(Bonus note: Sadly rock bands aren’t as big as they were when I was growing up so pretend mainstream rockstars still exist! Picture Black Siren on the level of Linkin Park, Blink 182 or Fall Out Boy back in the day)

OCCUPATION: freelance journalist
POSITIVES: intelligent, attentive, self-reliant
NEGATIVES: guarded, tsundere, resting bitch face
An aspiring journalist and writer who likes to see the world. He tends to write about his travels, current events and observations through his unique world view of being deaf. He hates being seen as weak/needy because of his disability, causing him to close up and become a bit of a loner.
(Bonus note: I feel like I’ve waited my whole life to write a deaf character and now is my time and I’m excited)

Weird thing is I also worked hard to be self reliant and also hate being viewed as weak or people thinking I always need others to do things for me. Plus I like traveling and writing XD OMG you've pretty much written a male version of me (except I'm not closed in or a loner I guess)

I cannot wait for this to be underway. Also, I know it's weird but I love stories about the deaf community. It is super fascinating especially since I border on "hard of hearing."

2025-02-10 18:10:07 +0000 UTCI wish rock bands were still more mainstream!! 😭 I feel like the current top dogs out there are all older bands like Green Day, Linkin Park, RHCP etc and I’m not mad at that but modern rock bands like Bad Omens, Palaye Royale and Måneskin I feel are still only known in the rock community? Maybe I’m wrong, that’s just how it feels and it sucks 😂

I kinda want to picture Black Siren’s music as more hardcore rock but just enough melodies and appeal to reach mainstream and be super successful, like a Linkin Park or Sum 41 (or definitely Foo and Nirvana). But all the boys are young, cute and edgy so they got the ‘hot factor’ marketability like Nirvana, Blink 182 or any emo band lol

Great minds think alike! 😂 I guess I could put some backstory on their names! ‘Shiloh Reed’ is the name of a vampire OC I made way back in the day and always thought that sounded like a cool celebrity/rockstar name so here we are lol Rowan’s name was harder to decide, it was a three way tie forever with Miles and Reid (and change Shi’s last name) but decided Rowan was cuter to nickname (Row) and ShiRo and Roloh are fun dumb pairing names lol

Arctic Monkeys were big until they moved in piano lounge music 🤣 Still think some othere are still famous (like QOTSA and Foo Fighters and that) even if they're not as big as they used to be in the 90s or have a cult following like Nirvana and so had . Got me distracted with a convo on rock music lol.

And idk, it might just be me, but I feel like if you told me their names and showed me their designs without telling me which was which I would have thought Rowan was the rockstar and Shiloh was the deaf writer. That being said I kinda like that their names are the opposite of what I’d expect 😎
