I get you on what you mentioned. I often find myself debating if I want to watch this one. I get that it ties into the story. Thanks for reviewing this one though.

This movie ends where episode 4 A New Hope begins (The first Star Wars you watched). Right after they give Leah those death star plans she puts them in R2 and sends him and 3P0 to find Obi Wan. The point of this movie was telling the story of all the people that died in order to get those plans. The end result is they find the weakness in the death star and Luke Skywalker fires a laser into that shaft and blows it up. Before that though the guy you saw who adopted Leah was Bail Organa. He also dies in the first Star Wars you watched when they use the death star to blow up Leah's planet. When you have time you should go back and check out episode 4 again and you will make all the connections.

this is my favorite of the movies that came out in the 2010s. i feel like it showed the realities of war and rebellions, including the main protagonists dying for a greater cause

This is my 3rd favorite of the movies. So dam good. Do episodes 7, 8 and 9 which are "The Force Awakens", "The Last Jedi" and "Rise of Skywalker". The only one you can't do yet is "Solo" until you get further into Clone Wars bc is has a spoiler in it.
