FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 (1982) - FULL LENGTH

Probably the best of the franchise. I feel like we got to see a lot more of the characters in this one and got to know them better, so when they died it was more sad! I liked the characters the most, and also how Chris actually thought stuff through and really fought. Good reaction

Hello darling Kemi!! Let me take you back in time to 1982 when "Friday the 13th, Part 3" was released. The only reason this film exists was to capitalize on the 3D craze that was returning to movie theaters around this time. The 3D gimmick had been something tried in the 50s, and movie studios had some success in the early 80s with new technology to make the 3D experience more vivid. The original "Friday the 13th" was a huge financial success in 1980. "Part 2" was only a modest hit, but the filmmakers decided to bring Jason back in "Part 3" using the 3D technology. Because of this, "Friday the 13th, Part 3" was a smash, grossing over $34 million becoming the 20th highest-grossing film of the year, and the second highest horror film with "Poltergeist" at #1 ($73 million). As you noted in your reaction, the "Friday the 13th" movies all have the same feel; they really are carbon copies of each other. They are made on low budgets and the movie studios know they will make tons of money from the fans. While this movie barely has a plot, it cements the "Friday the 13th" formula, introducing a bunch of good-looking young people just long enough for them to be slaughtered in various ways. Character development is not this franchise's strength. LOL More importantly, this is the film where Jason finds his hockey mask that he wears throughout the rest of the series. The next film, called "The Final Chapter," takes place immediately after this one, so Jason continues to wear the mask, and that look stuck with the public and becomes iconic. Chris returned to her family's vacation home two years after she was attacked to "prove something to herself." She felt that returning to the scene of the crime would help her deal with the trauma, kind of like getting right back on a horse after falling off. Little did she know that she would be confronting Jason once again! Debbie was indeed pregnant with Andy's baby. This was just a little bit of character development supposed to garner sympathy from the audience when she meets her fate. Does Jason superhuman strength and ability to survive have a supernatural element? Perhaps, but that is never explicitly explained until the ninth movie, so at this time, the fact that Jason keeps coming back is only "movie magic." In "Part 6," subtitled "Jason Lives," the filmmakers finally bring back Jason as a full-fledged zombie. Thank you for inserting the pictures of me with some of the actors! It's always fun to meet the actors in these films, and they are just as surprised to meet so many fans of these low budget, not critically acclaimed films made over 40 years ago. I know September is your birthday month, but this year it also has an actual Friday the 13th in it, so that's why I made the suggestion. I am sure you will have many more scary films next month, as well. Finally, you are correct that the first 10 minutes was taken completely from "Part 2." Back in the day, people didn't have easy access to films (no DVDs, no streaming services), so when we went to the theater it was actually cool to re-watch parts of the previous film. It also helps new viewers to understand who Jason is and who his mother is. Nowhere in the "new" story is Jason's name ever mentioned. Thank you so much for your reaction, Kemi! You are a trooper to sit through these horror movies, but you did very well! I am proud of you! The next Friday the 13th on the calendar is not until June 2025, so you'll have a bit of a break from these films! 😁
