A lot of people talk crap about Russell Crowe in this but given that he was not a classically trained singer, I love his version of Stars

I was lucky enough to see it live once, but I was really young at the time so I literally don't remember ANYTHING 😭 I need to see it live again...

Oh my God! This was the movie I was going to request. I can't believe someone beat me to it but I am so glad you has the chance to see this masterpiece. I have seen in 4 times on Broadway and when the movie came out I loved it so much. The sorry is so compelling and sad and beautiful and High Jackman did an amazing job. I wish you had the captions on though as sometimes it's easy to miss the words when sung in an opera.

I've seen the meme a thousand times, "Oscar in hand Anne Hathaway fucks off until the last five minutes of the movie." Her performance of " I dreamed a dream" was her first take. I believe they filmed at least 2 more takes but the raw emotion in the first take won out. Samantha Barks, who plays Eponine, was a stage actress brought on to play her role - which is why she was so darn perfect at it. And I'll always say that Eddie Redmayne was cheated out of an Oscar with his performance of "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" alone. Thank you Kemi and THANK YOU Verity-Ann!

And the boy who played Gavroche also played Jack in the film version of "Into the Woods".

Also, if you recognize the street where they set up the barricade and where they end "One Day More" with the flags, that's the filming location for Gringotts Wizarding Bank in the Harry Potter movies. Another Harry Potter connection!

By the way, you also uploaded Tick, Tick, BOOM! today so wanted to point out that Jonathan's mother is played by Judy Kuhn -- she was the original Cosette in the Les Miserables concert you watched. She is also the singing voice for Pocahontas in the Disney movie.

Thanks, Verity-Ann, for bringing Kemi her wish and mine: to give her the full dose. The music is timeless, and they really stacked the cast. As Kemi said, some didn't quite have the vocal chops, but because they chose to sing everything live, it added to the gritty texture of the setting. To be able to rise above all that the characters lived with is a true testament to them. And two musicals in one day!!

I became a patron of yours with the intention of suggesting this film but never got to it because I don't know how Patreon works lol. I'm glad to see that other patrons were thinking the same thing. I don't have time right now but I'll be back this evening to watch!
