Stan Lee has said the original X-Men comics were a direct response to racism and the Civil Rights movement. Xavier is meant to represent Martin Luther King Jr., while Magneto is Malcolm X. I love that you picked up on that aspect a bit in your reaction! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope you continue with the franchise; X2 was my favorite movie growing up. I saw it so many times in theaters that when I went to Mexico on exchange, I was able to watch it there without subtitles because I'd basically already memorized it.
