I’m not quite sure why but I thought he deserved it more in The Departed and was great in Gangs of New York but Daniel Day Lewis stole the show in that. Shoulda won that year

But you got so much discussion and analysis out of this. Sometimes when I watch a film too much it loses its emotional impact, but watching it again through your eyes made it feel raw again. Leonardo's Oscar win was well-deserved. Tom Hardy was so despicable while still being realistic and...well, I don't want to say "sympathetic", but you can see the reasoning behind his arguments (wanting to leave a dying man behind because it's slowing them down, etc) even if it's horrible. And the visuals and sound are just amazing, so immersive, it makes you feel like you're right there. Hopefully you'll find my second year's picks more fun!
