I love this movie and feel it is so under appreciated. I was learning ASL as a second language in college when this movie came out so it always struck a chord (pun intended) with me. I just love the overall story of how a man who's passion is music is the one thing he feel he can't share with his son and because of that, he can't connect with him - which leads his son to feel distant and unloved. And it's not until he's almost an adult before he's able to express his feelings towards his father well enough to explain that to him.
