This is one of my favorite films and one I'll never forget. My Mother and I did not get along while I was growing up. Long story short, she divorced my Father when I was 3 and she had custody of us. She had it in for me as I looked just like my Father, talked like him, and even did some of his mannerisms. Unfortunately this caused her to take out a lot of her frustrations towards him, out on me instead. I remember one day my siblings and I were watching this film on TV with my Mother. It was rather awkward as I could relate to a lot of the things that happened to the poor daughter. Anyhow, one day my Mother asks me to do something, and being completely void of reasoning... I responded, "Yes, Mommy Dearest." Let's just say that "Mommy Dearest" was not at all amused with her new title and I paid a price for it. I can't imagine why I ever would have thought to say that to her, knowing what sort of treatment I had in the past already. Whoops!
