2021-04-21 01:29:30 +0000 UTCThe guitarist (and also co-writer and co-producer of this track) is André Cymone. He was the bass guitarist for Prince back in the days. He has several albums of his own, too. "The Dance Electric" was his biggest hit (co-produced by Prince himself) which reached #10 on the Billboard R&B Chart. The guy with Jody in the video is Tyrone "The Bone" Proctor, who was a dancer on the dance TV show Soul Train (which Jody later joined too, where she was discovered, put in the band Shalamar, before going solo). The type of dancing is called "waacking", which was popular in the underground black and latino gay clubs at the time. It later continued into the ballroom scene, alongside voguing. He sadly passed away in June, last year.
