Finian's Rainbow was a hit Broadway musical in the 1940's, but it wasn't filmed until 1968. It was one of the earliest movies to be directed by Francis Ford Coppola (who would go on to direct the Godfather films). The man in this scene is Don Francks. The plot of the movie is way too complicated to go into, but the music is wonderful, written by Yip Harburg, who a few years earlier had written "Over The Rainbow" for The Wizard of Oz (he seemed to have had a fixation on rainbows 😊)

Finian's Rainbow was Fred Astaire's last dancing film (although he did have a few wonderful TV specials he did with Barrie Chase). He played Petula's father. It has a terrific, romantic, fun musical score.
