Like you, I've seen and heard her name but really never took the time to listen to her music. Her voice is beautiful so shame on me for acknowledging the bad and never taking the time to see her real talent.

2020-12-02 03:48:34 +0000 UTCI've always liked Selena. Her music gets underrated, or even attacked, by people who dismiss her as only getting attention because of her looks and tabloid-fame. But I remember that this song won her a good deal of respect. It's such a strong expression of a hard-won battle for self-respect, and she really does sing it beautifully. And good observation on your part in describing the video as "Catholic." As I recall from reading about it at the time of its release, it's supposed to look like she's in a confessional.
