I don't know about remote play but yeah moonlight worked well for me, as a remote desktop at least. Sunshine as a flatpak doesn't work though but the rpm and the Deb work fine.

Mint devs are definitely fantastic at what they do! I never tried game streaming to the Deck, because I never game outside of my apartment, and that means I could just as well game on the PC, but just for fun, it could be nice to try it once! I never had lucj with remote Play, it never worked properly for me, but maybe Moonlight would work better?

Yeah, I looked at the PS VR2 the other day, because I miss VR? and realized there is nothing in there that I haven't played, or that I would spend more than 4 hours with...

The difference is that the Switch only runs games made for the Switch, or ports for it. The Deck runs all PC games, or has access to them, meaning unless devs are willing to have a "low graphics" mode specifically for it, either they dyumb it down for everyone else, or they ignore the device.

It's a good idea that the Mint team wants to redesign the default cinnamon theme because it's a complaint I've often seen on other distro's forums. The dedication that the Mint team has for their OS and desktop environment is remarkable and I really hope that they can keep up with all the work they want to put into it. I think that a steam deck 2 will need to happen, computers evolve faster than gaming consoles and games are not that well optimized compared to consoles either. I think that the first gen steam deck could stay relevant through game streaming maybe. On that note, Nick have you ever tried streaming games from your gaming PC to you steam deck with the Sunshine and Moonlight apps? I gave it a shot as a remote desktop and my experience with it has been great, although I don't game with it.

It's so funny when there's consoles like the PS5 Pro, but there isn't one "must play" game for the platform I can think of

Wow this bit on the Steam Deck is fairly sad. The big benefit of the Steam Deck was that it was going to be a sort of lowest common denominator that all devs can target, and that its standardized hardware would lead to better compatibility. Instead devs have largely ignored it because they're so obsessed with high-powered graphics. It's a bit strange talking about how a 2-year-old device NEEDS a hardware refresh in the same way that the Switch does after 7 years.
