Would be also interested by updates on your teaching, just by curiosity. A bit weird that these students look like more teenagers than adults.

Hahaha yeah, the week is really packed, hopefully things settle down a bit, although I'll admit I've enjoyed having more things to do these days, and the new office definitely motivated me to work more each day!

I hope so, this would mean we can at least ship local models that don't call home, which would be a win for privacy. it won't solve the ethical data sources issue, but at least it won't increase the data collection hellhole that has become the internet!

I'll definitely report on it then! My use case should be pretty basic, without much specific software needed, but we'll see if I bump into issues, file format exchange problems, or whatever else!

I am very interested in hearing about your teaching. In addition to being an educator myself, there isn't much discussion of open-source software in the education space. Education, at least in the US, is dominated by ChromeOS for primary and secondary schools and Windows in the universities. If you're able to use some open-source software in your teaching, you can probably get a few videos about it.

Imo The bottleneck of training models will be drastically reduced soon. As a result you will have more specific AI models for local use. Remember indexing your filesystem for search? Similar! Also the speed of generating stuff with those models will naturally increase and thus automatically will become more widely available.

Keep these updates coming :)

My feedback: I definitely don't mind hearing about things like the teaching, moving, etc. I have found it interesting, especially because it's different than my experiences in the U.S. Plus, I see the Patroncast as a bit of a behind the scenes thing anyway, so for me, it's not inappropriate. And I'm exhausted now at your week ahead. πŸ˜…

Dammit. It's fixed now! I had already made the same mistake Saturday with the audio news podcast, one would think I'd learn to double check...

The Linux Experiment

Looks like you uploaded the daily news instead of the patroncast.
